Why BIOTAN® and NANO®?
NANO® was researched and invented by Gastrolux to refine the surface of pans. NANO® allows Gastrolux® the structure and the Surface-Refinement for a perfect even coating. Using NANO® with BIOTAN®, the Gastrolux® surface is absolutely stable, non-porous and has a fantastic non-stick effect.

What are Bio-Minerals?
Bio-Minerals are mineralized bones, shells and smallest creatures built up to a strong, hard and resistant coating over millions of years. Like Diatoms in our ocean and from the flower “Horsetail”. Over millions of years the dead Diatoms drop to the floor of the ocean and build up Bio-Minerals and Diatomaceous-Earth. Bio-Minerals are as well very healthy for your body and are available in Health-Food shops. Bio-Minerals are, for example, important components for healthy and strong fingernails and hair.

What do Bio-Minerals look like?
They look like very, very fine dust, like sediments on the floor of the ocean. Millions of years ago a lot of land was covered by sea. Over the years the earth moved and sea became land. Bio-Minerals are now produced from a mining process.
What exactly do Bio-Minerals do in the Surface-Refinement by Gastrolux®?
Exactly the same that your skeleton does in your body: they supports and stabilize your whole body. Imagine, Gastrolux® lays a skeleton of Bio-Minerals in to the pan and fills up this grid with a Bimodal Ceramic-Coating.
What is the benefit of Bio-Minerals in a Gastrolux® pan?
They stabilize the surface and make it harder.
Why does Gastrolux® not use "Titanium- Pans"?
It is correct that back in 1986, Gastrolux® invented the manufacturing process of Titanium-Oxide as Surface-Refinement for pans. However, whoever claim they have a Titanium-Pan does not tell you the truth! There is already huge difference between Titanium and Titanium-Oxide! By the way, it is a technology that was invented over twenty years ago and is an invention out of the last millennium. As well, if someone tells you that the surface of their pan is Titanium or Titanium-Oxide they do not tell you the truth either. Because the Titanium-Oxide or the Titanium is on the pan body and the surface is a simple PTFE-Coating (this coating is well known for example under the trade name of Teflon).
What is the difference between Titanium and BIOTAN®?
Titanium or Titanium-Oxide does not harden the cooking surface. It is only a surface between the raw pan-body and the non-stick coating. (please see Above). The Bio-Minerals by Gastrolux® are not under the non-stick coating, they are a part of the non-stick surface.
Why are there still so many “Titanium” Pans out there?
Gastrolux® as the pioneer in pan manufacturing was and will always be copied, but it still takes time to copy. Since the world release of NANO® in the year 2000 suddenly there are many products bearing the claim of “Nano Technology”. For Gastrolux®, Stagnancy is Regression. Titanium or Titanium-Oxide is a manufacturing process that is from the last century. Gastrolux® has moved on into the new millenium!
